Marc Shapiro
As Director of Clinical Operations, Dr. Marc Shapiro works closely with PBIRx clients, ensuring that both PBIRx and PBM clinical program recommendations optimize outcomes for members, while minimizing member disruption and reducing costs for management. Marc collaborates with the PBIRx clinical team, developing programs and proprietary cost and safety clinical algorithms, as well as monitoring new medications, shortages, recalls, new indications, generic approvals, biosimilars, and specialty products.
Drawing on his vast knowledge and community, hospital and clinic pharmacy expertise, Marc brings deep insight to PBIRx. He lends his highly developed skill set to many areas, including the continuous review of claim utilization for our clients. His recommendations are supported by his thorough review of utilization data, coupled with extensive clinical knowledge and research.
Marc has more than 30 years’ experience in community pharmacy as staff and managing pharmacist and holds four state licenses including CT, NY, NJ, and CA. He has completed certificate programs in Diabetes, HIV, and Anticoagulation Management, and is also a certified immunizer through the APhA (American Pharmacists Association). He is a member of the APhA, CPA, NASP and has been a preceptor for UConn pharmacy students. Marc utilizes varied resources to stay current with new research and changes within the pharmaceutical industry. He also attends several educational conferences annually.
Marc received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from St. John’s University. After practicing pharmacy for several years, his dedication to the profession led him to earn his doctorate degree from the University of Florida.
